We, men and women, representatives of diverse alternative editorials, independent and cooperatives from Uruguay, Colombia, Mexico, Basque Country, Germany, Dominican Republic, Spain, Argentina, Cuba, Nicaragua and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, gathered in the room Martin Luther King Jr., of the Caracas´ Chapter of the International Book Fair of Venezuela on the 13th and 15th of November, 2007, we declare founded the Editorial Network in Defense of Humanity; whose essential principles are critical thinking and the social responsibility in defense of the identity of Latin America and the peoples of the world.
Likewise, we declare that in conformity with these principles we want to contribute with the formation of an emancipator, critical and popular though. The Editorial Network in Defense of Humanity will pronounce before political, social and cultural events that attempt against the dignity and sovereignty of the peoples; will raise protests that will point the delinquents of crimes against humanity and will oppose to the monocultural hegemonic project from the capitalism and imperial visions.
We declare that the network will protect and promote the solidary exchange of knowledge and will stimulate the creation of experimental spaces for the development of the systems of creation, production and editorial distribution. It will also function as an alternative in defense of Humanity, as a means to dismantle the media campaigns, generated from the world centers of power, with the intention of debilitate and annihilate the processes of freedom of the peoples.
This enclosing initiative appears as an editorial support for the Intellectuals and Artists Network in Defense of Humanity and other social movements who, from different places of the planet raise a solidary voice with the emancipated struggles. Likewise, we declare our commitment with the editorial work and the formation of critical readers and committed with their identity, heritage and social dynamics.
We unite in the struggle for the democratization of the diffusion systems and cultural communication. These should be at the service of the majorities of the planet, guaranteeing the diversity of thought, culture, linguistics, ethnic, sex and gender equality.
Definitely, we propose an international solidary network, a planetary response in favor of the historical projects of liberation that maintain in the hearts of our peoples the living flame of hope and victory.
