LAURA ANTILLANO
(Caracas, 1950)

She is a short-story writer, novelist, essayist, photographer, and film and television scriptwriter. She is a graduate from the School of Arts from the Zulia University and holds a Bachelor's degree of Hispanic Arts and major studies from Chilean and American Universities.

She has been awarded the following prizes: Second Prize in the First Maracaibo 1966 Inter-High School Poetry Contest, First Prize in the 1977 32 nd El Nacional Short-Story Contest. Special Mention in the 1981 ‘David Colina' Children Drama Contest, UCV. First Prize in the 1983 ‘Julio Garmendia' Short-Story Contest, UCV. Honorable Mention in the Federal District Literature Municipal Prize, 1984 Narrative Section, and Narrative Mention in the 1994 ‘Jesús Enrique Lossada' Literature Regional Prize. She is now president of ‘La Letra Voladora' Foundation, which objective is to spread literature among children and young people, with the aim of promoting the enjoyment of reading.
